چکیده

We study the influence of the dimension of cellular automata (CA) for real time language recognition of one-dimensional languages with parallel input. Specifically, we focus on the question of determining whether every language that can be recognized in real time on a 2-dimensional CA working on the Moore neighborhood can also be recognized in real time by a 1-dimensional CA working on the standard two-way neighborhood. We show that 2-dimensional CA in real time can perform a linear number of simulations of a 1-dimensional real time CA. If the two classes are equal then the number of simulated instances can be polynomial. 1998 ACM Subject Classification F.1.1 Models of Computation

Solutions on 1-D and 2-D Density Classification Problem Using Programmable Cellular Automata

This paper presents solutions to Density Classification Task (DCT) using a variant of Cellular Automata (CA) called Programmable Cellular Automata (PCA). The translation property as well as the density preserving property of fundamental CA rules in 1D and 2D, and the advantage of PCA are embedded together to obtain the DCT solution. The advantage of PCA over standard CA is reported. A general 2...

Topological Dynamics of 2D Cellular Automata

Topological dynamics of cellular automata (CA), inherited from classical dynamical systems theory, has been essentially studied in dimension 1. This paper focuses on 2D CA and aims at showing that the situation is different and more complex. The main results are the existence of non sensitive CA without equicontinuous points, the nonrecursivity of sensitivity constants and the existence of CA h...

A Novel Approach for Detecting Relationships in Social Networks Using Cellular Automata Based Graph Coloring

All the social networks can be modeled as a graph, where each roles as vertex and each relationroles as an edge. The graph can be show as G = [V;E], where V is the set of vertices and E is theset of edges. All social networks can be segmented to K groups, where there are members in eachgroup with same features. In each group each person knows other individuals and is in touch ...

An Ant-Colony Optimization Clustering Model for Cellular Automata Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks

High efficient routing is an important issue for the design of wireless sensor network (WSN) protocols to meet the severe hardware and resource constraints. This paper presents an inclusive evolutionary reinforcement method. The proposed approach is a combination of Cellular Automata (CA) and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) techniques in order to create collision-free trajectories for every agent...

Asynchronous 1D Cellular Automata and the Effects of Fluctuation and Randomness

Cellular automata are used as models of emergent computation and artificial life. They are usually simulated under synchronous and deterministic conditions. Thus, they are evolved without existence of noise, i.e., fluctuation or randomness. However, noise is unavoidable in real world. The target of the present paper is to show the following two effects and several other phenomena caused by exis...
